Being part of the IKS 2015 not only meant to prepare workshops for children and young adults but also to take on responsibilities for different organizational tasks and to fulfill them in order to make our project work!

In the mornings we had to think about cutting apples and preparing water and cups for the breaks. For around 50 children this was quite some work 😀

Every day three volunteers were responsible for cooking a lunch for 20 to 25 people that had to be healthy, ecological and economical. Since this was a challenge to many of us the cooking team had to plan the menu and to calculate the necessary purchases the day before. On top of that they got a coaching from our leaders who were responsible for cooking. Together they made sure that the meal corresponded to the food pyramid that shows rules for healthy cooking. That’s why we always got a very good lunch with a salad or vegetables, a main dish, bread and a healthy dessert 🙂

It was great to see how much effort each and every one of us put into the preparation of the food and it became even more perfect every day.

The fact that had all the time such great meals made it easier for the cooking team of the previous day to fulfill their task of cleaning the tables and washing the dishes. For 20 to 25 people this took quite some time and it was hard work!

Apart from that we also had to purchase the material for our workshops. For this task we had a form every workshop team had to fill in at least one day before the purchase of the material because we always had to check our budget before buying new things. Two people from our leader team took care of that aspect.

Aside from some decisions that were made by the two responsible persons of that organizational field we had to discuss on important topics in the whole leader team every late afternoon. On the one hand this was hard after a long day of work but on the other hand it helped us to be a strong leader team by sharing our responsibilities. The best thing about this was that we could see the effect of our teamwork every day because the things we had planned worked out as we wanted them to 🙂
